Poker is a card game in which players wager money (representing chips) on the outcome of a hand. The game can vary in the number of cards used and in how they are dealt, but all games involve one or more rounds of betting. Players may also bluff, betting that they have the best hand when in fact they do not.<\/p>\n
Before dealing cards, a player must contribute to the pot by placing chips in it. This is called an ante. Then, each player takes turns revealing their cards and betting into the pot. The highest hand wins the pot.<\/p>\n
The cards are ranked from high to low: Ace, King, Queen, Jack and 10. Each suit has a value of its own, and some games have special cards that are wild (deuces or one-eyed jacks).<\/p>\n
When it is your turn to bet, you can say “call” if you want to raise the amount that the person before you bet. Then you will place your bet in the pot matching the amount that was raised. You can also say “raise” if you want to raise the amount of your bet above what the person before you raised. You can also just fold if you don’t want to bet.
